SP Half Marathon 2018 @ Dataran Zero Kilometer, Sungai Petani, Kedah

SP Half Marathon is back again, this time it is held on 15 September 2018 at the same location which is at Dataran Zero Kilometer, Sungai Petani, where the starting line is just right beside the iconic SP Clock Tower.

I still like the medal design for this year and I hope the organizer will keep up the good effort in making good design for their marathon medal every year, haha !

It was raining very heavily the night before and the drizzle continue until probably around 7 am, so those running 21 km were running in the rain as the 21 km flag off at 6.15 am. We were all wet but that does not stop me from running, of course, I would prefer good weather without the rain, haha ..

This time, everyone are required to obtain their hand band before running which was not the case before this, luckily I heard the volunteer there shouting about it before the run else I won’t know that we need to take the hand band. Without the hand band, they won’t give the medal. Along the run, there are around 6 to 7 water station providing plain water and 100 plus isotonic drink. This year, their running t-shirt is provided by PACE but I feel that the t-shirt size is slightly smaller than what it is stated to be. It is a good thing that PACE set up a counter and allow participant to change their t-shirt if the size does not fit. Thumbs up to PACE !

After the run, there are Milo and 100 Plus drinks provided.

This year there is a slight change in the SP Half Marathon route. I like this route more as we don’t need to run into housing area and along those busy streets with a lot of cars driving pass us. Though we are still sharing the road with other vehicles during the run but at least the road is wider and those vehicles can drive further away from runners.
